SUNTRUST BANKCARD DROPS THE GREEN FLAG ON CO-BRANDED CREDIT CARD

SunTrust BankCard, N.A., has dropped the green flag on its latest co-branded credit card — the DAYTONA USA MasterCard.
Geared to the millions of motorsports enthusiasts in the U.S., the card is expected to fuel growth for the bank-card subsidiary of SunTrust Banks, Inc.

“SunTrust BankCard currently has 700,000 cardholders, but we anticipate a substantial increase as the result of our aggressive growth initiatives, including co-branded credit cards such as the new DAYTONA USA MasterCard,” said Jim Rasmussen, SunTrust BankCard, N.A. chairman and CEO.

Leslie Dukker Doty, SunTrust BankCard senior vice president and director of marketing, added that the marketing strategy for co-branded cards is to target specialized leisure-activity populations across the country. “Racing fans tend to be among the most loyal when it comes to purchasing products from companies affiliated with their sport. Coupled with the sheer number of enthusiasts, that makes the racing market an ideal niche for SunTrust BankCard.”

The DAYTONA USA MasterCard will have no annual fee, 7.9% introductory financing and may be used at more than 12 million locations worldwide. Bonus features are in development, but will include race-car-related discounts and incentives.
