Gateway 2000 Inc. (Nasdaq: GATE), the leading direct marketer of personal computers to the home, today announced it is offering a Moola MasterCard(R) credit card that gives consumers a rebate applicable toward Gateway purchases.
Gateway is the only computer company offering a rebate through a major credit card company. The cow-spotted Moola MasterCard will have no annual fee. Rebates of 1 percent on all net retail purchases using the card will accumulate as “Moola Dollars” that can be redeemed for Gateway merchandise.
The adjustable-rate Moola card will be issued through an exclusive agreement with MBNA America Bank, N.A., the world’s second largest lender through bank credit cards.
“The Moola MasterCard is our way of thanking valued Gateway customers. When our customers use the Moola MasterCard, they earn Moola Dollars that can be used to buy the latest technology – hardware, software or Gateway branded merchandise from our Spot Shop,” said Rob Cheng, Vice President of Americas Marketing. “And it lets consumers flash our cool cow-spotted MasterCard at 12 million locations that accept MasterCard around the world.”
The company is also introducing the Gateway “Easy Pay Plan” through MBNA. The plan provides immediate financing on Gateway merchandise and 90-day-same-as-cash terms, pending credit approval.
