At specified Citizens Federal branches, NCR ATMs will accept check deposits and, following the transaction, the ATM will print the check image on the bottom of the deposit receipt.
NCR (NYSE: NCR) and Citizens Federal announce the first availability of a check’s image printed on the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) receipt. This is the first time an ATM has ever provided the actual image of a check to the consumer as verification of an ATM check deposit.
At specified Citizens Federal branch locations, NCR ATMs will accept check deposits and, following the transaction, the ATM will print the check image on the bottom of the deposit receipt.
“We believe that NCR’s technology will increase customer use of ATMs for check deposits because they will now have an instant copy of the check for verification,” said Rod Weeks, group vice president and director of MIS at Citizens Federal. “It’s important that our customers feel secure when making a deposit in the ATM. This verification will give them the assurance that their deposit transaction was completed accurately.”
“In today’s Age of the Consumer, NCR is continuously looking at ways to make people more comfortable using ATMs,” said Andy Orent, vice president of Self Service at NCR. “A study by Synergistics shows that only four-in-ten ATM users deposit checks at the ATM. However, we believe that this number can be much higher.”
According to the survey, proof of a deposit is a significant incentive to encourage ATM deposits. “We believe a customers’ comfort level is greatly enhanced if they have a receipt with an actual image of the check. The image becomes a record of the transaction and allows the customer to verify the amount,” Orent said.
“While NCR can offer this capability to any institution purchasing the new personaS family of ATMs, this capability can also be upgraded to our previous generation of ATMs,” said Orent. “We are committed to helping customers like Citizens Federal protect their investment in technology by making new technology available on prior generations of NCR equipment.” To image enable the ATMs, NCR provided imaging software, an imaging enabled deposit module, and upgraded existing ATMs with graphic printers and pentium processors from NCR’s personaS line of ATMs.
NCR is working with several customers to offer this capability at the ATM to build stronger relationships with customers and drive mutual transaction value.
