As thousands of fans gathered at dusk at Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre to await the performance of rock music legend Tina Turner, the singer was backstage disclosing a private side of herself to a select group of invited guests. Ms. Turner unveiled an original watercolor painting depicting her life’s journey which she created expressly to appear on the 1997 series of the Private Issue(R) credit card.

“For many years I have been recognized for my voice, my dancing and yes, for my legs,” Ms. Turner said. “It’s refreshing to be appreciated for my artwork. I’ve been painting since I was in high school. To have my art appear on a credit card that thousands of people can own and enjoy is exciting. It’s an opportunity for me to share the pleasure I derive from art with others.”

Entitled “Southern Connection,” Ms. Turner’s painting is a vibrant depiction of her journey from Nutbush, Tennessee, where she grew up, to her current home in Southern France. The painting features a swirling Highway 19 that breezes past rolling Tennessee hills speckled with wildflowers and cotton. The highway curves in front of the church where she spent Sundays as a child, crosses the Atlantic and sweeps by the gardens near her home at Villa Anna Fleur in the South of France.

“We’re delighted that Ms. Turner created this exceptional painting for Private Issue,” Robert E. Wood II, Executive Vice President, NOVUS Brands said. “Ms. Turner’s celebration of her road of life is an inspiration to anyone who chooses to own her card. It is truly an example of the ‘American Dream.’ Cardmembers have told us that using their Private Issue Card makes them feel special. We think that Ms. Turner’s card offers Cardmembers a sense of connection with the artist and her life.”

Ms. Turner, who is currently on the U.S. leg of her “Wildest Dreams!” World Tour, is one of three talented celebrity artists whose creations have been selected to appear on the Private Issue Card this year.

In addition to Ms. Turner’s painting, the 1997 Private Issue celebrity series will feature art by late Grateful Dead band member Jerry Garcia, and a new creation by last year’s Private Issue artist, New York Knicks basketball star Patrick Ewing. Ms. Turner’s art is the first of the 1997 Private issue cards to be unveiled.

This is the third year that Private Issue has offered its Cardmembers a choice of celebrity art reproduced on the face of their cards. The celebrity artist Private Issue Cards were introduced in July 1995. Premier Private Issue artists were musician Ringo Starr, actress Jane Seymour and Olympic gold medalist Florence Griffith Joyner.

In 1996, Mr. Starr’s and Ms. Griffith Joyner’s art cards were retired and Private Issue introduced two new artists, actor Anthony Quinn and Patrick Ewing. This year, Ms. Seymour’s and Mr. Quinn’s Private Issue art cards are being retired and art cards by Ms. Turner and Mr. Garcia will be introduced. Mr. Ewing has been asked to create a new work of art for the 1997 series. Behind the celebrity artwork is a premium credit card that currently offers three financial options:

* Rate Advantage – Featuring a low annual percentage rate (APR) of prime rate plus 6.9% and no annual fee, Private Issue’s Rate Advantage option is ideal for Cardmembers who appreciate the ability to carry a balance at a very favorable rate.

* 5% Interest Rebate – Combine no annual fee, a 5% rebate on annual finance charges, paid yearly, and an annual percentage rate (APR) of prime rate plus 9.9% and you have the 5% Interest Rebate option, the best choice for Cardmembers who carry a balance and appreciate receiving an annual reward.

* Cashback Bonus(R) Award – For those who like getting money back on purchases every year, the Cashback Bonus Award option is the ideal choice. Cardmembers who choose this option earn up to 2% back on their annual level of purchases, paid yearly. The interest rate for this option is prime rate plus 9.9% annual percentage rate (APR) and the annual fee is $18.
