Hyatt-AmEx Welcome Rewards

American Express and Hyatt have teamed up to hand out a book of ‘Welcome Rewards’ worth $1,000 to customers this summer .

Guests who use their American Express Card to pay for their stay at more than 80 participating Hyatt hotels in the United States and Canada this summer will receive a gift book full of travel and retail certificates valued at more than $1,000.

The “Welcome Rewards” promotion, valid now through Sept. 1, 1997, includes offers from thirteen brands, including Alamo Car Rental, AT&T, Avis Car Rental, CompUSA, Hartmann Luggage, Herrington, Hyatt Gold Passport, Hyatt Vacations, Nevada Bob’s, PRP Wine International, Royal Caribbean International, The Learning Company and United Airlines. A gift book with the Welcome Rewards certificates will be given to Hyatt guests each time they pay for their stay with the American Express Card at participating hotels.

“We are pleased to join American Express in extending an extra thank-you to our guests for their business this summer. Welcome Rewards gives guests valuable benefits that extend beyond their Hyatt stay,” said Thomas F. O’Toole, vice president, marketing, Hyatt Hotels Corp.

“American Express and Hyatt want to continue developing ways to reward our joint customers,” said Courtney Taylor, vice president, travel industry relations, American Express Co. “Welcome Rewards is one example of how our two companies can team up to provide meaningful added value to our customers’ travel experience,” she added.

Hyatt is employing an extensive marketing program to inform consumers about the “Welcome Rewards” offer. Ads will run in USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Forbes, U.S. News & World Report, and targeted publications such as Inside Flyer, Frequent Flyer and American Express SkyGuide, while in-hotel advertising, direct mail to Hyatt Gold Passport members and American Express cardholders and promotional pages on the Internet will also spread the word about the promotion.
