Just in time for National Consumer Protection Week, Congressman Chaka Fatta (D-PA) has reintroduced the Cash Consumer Protection Act, HR 599.
The Cash Consumer Protection Act amends the Consumer Credit Protection Act to make it unlawful to require a credit card as a condition for doing business. This will ensure that no citizen is discriminated against because they do not to have a credit card, whether by choice or by income status.
Many times those without a credit card are prevented from renting an apartment … joining a video store … participating in the electronic market. Congressman Fatta finds it patently unfair that cash-only customers are unable to enter into certain commercial transactions, and has introduced this bill that will ensure all Americans access to all goods and services on the market, regardless of form of payment.
