IDT Corporation has just launched their first pre-paid callback phone card, specifically designed for the international marketplace: Debitalk. Debitalk makes the use of a pre-paid calling card much simpler and cheaper, and meets the needs and requirements of various ethnic communities and different geographic locales in the U.S. This is the way it works: the user places a phone call from anywhere in the world using a touch-tone telephone with a pre-programmed callback number. They then dial their access (trigger) number, let it ring once, hang up, wait for the ring back, listen to their real-time account balance, and dial their destination number.
Since everything is pre-paid, there is no credit card needed, no invoices generated or bad debt incurred. Previously, callback card users had to pay accounts using credit cards in U.S. dollars. With the new Debitalk, they will be able to pre-pay in their own currency through direct distributors around the world.
