Debit cards keep getting sweeter if you forget your PIN. A major bank introduced a new program that gives cardholders a cash rebate on all VISA Check Card purchases that do not involve a PIN. The U.S. Bank “Checking That Pays” program offers its VISA debit card users an average of a 0.50% rebate for the first $3,000 worth of annual purchases with a full 1% rebate on all qualified annual purchases thereafter. Each month U.S. Bank customers will see how much they have earned in rebate dollars on their account statements. In November, each participating customer will receive a rebate deposit that will go directly into their checking account. There are no spending limits on the program. “Checking That Pays” can be used with any type of U.S. Bank consumer checking account, including free checking and checking accounts that pay interest. U.S. Bank is also participating in VISA’s “Everyday Extras” promotion which offers VISA Check Card holders a chance to win $100 every day for an entire year. The promotion is for signature-only purchases and will end this month. For more information visit www.firstar.com or www.usbank.com.
