Friday, December 23rd ranked as the highest overall sales volume day of the 2005 holiday shopping season. Six of the ten busiest retail shopping days of the season occurred during the week of December 19th thru December 25th. According to VISA’s latest “SpendTrak” report, overall sales volume on VISA-branded payment cards reached $32.2 billion last week, an increase of 26.9% over the same period in 2004. Retail growth reached nearly $13.1 billion for the week of Dec. 19-25. Friday, December 23rd consumer retail spending reached nearly $2.5 billion. Between Oct 31st and December 25th consumers spent $232.4 billion on VISA cards, a 17.7% increase versus the same period last year.
