NationsBank (NYSE: NB), a corporate sponsor and the Official Bank of the 1996 Olympic Summer Games, today kicked off the largest product promotion in its history — the Olympic Dream Giveaway — by offering new and current customers the chance to win more than $1 million in prizes.
Prizes include one Southern Living dream home, 50 trips for two to the 1996 Olympic Summer Games, TO 1996 U.S. Olympic Gold Regals from Buick and 100 IBM(R) Aptiva(TM) Personal Computers. The Southern Living dream home will be built wherever the winner wants (within the contiguous U.S.) and NationsBank will contribute another $100,000 toward land purchase and to help cover taxes.
Bother Olympic sponsors are holding contests to win trips to the Olympic Games, but none of them is teaming up with as many other sponsors to offer such a wide variety and level of prizes, said Van Perry, manager of sports marketing for NationsBank. “Our agreements with Southern Living magazine, Buick and IBM enable us to include prizes that top any other in NationsBank history. He are pleased to reward our customers and help them share in the excitement of the Olympic Games.”
All new and existing consumer and business banking customers who open almost any new NationsBank account or apply for a loan from February 5 through June 14 will automatically be entered in the Olympic Dream Giveaway. These include:
— Consumer or Business Banking checking accounts
— Consumer or Business Banking savings accounts
— Certificates of deposit “includes additional deposits on maturing certificates of deposit, but not automatic renewals without an additional deposit)
— Individual Retirement Accounts
— Consumer or Business Banking money market accounts
— PC Banking accounts
— Consumer or Business Banking loan or line of credit applications
— VISA credit card applications
Residential mortgage loan or home equity loan applications
– Consumer Credit Insurance on any consumer loan
Customers are automatically entered in the Olympic Dream Giveaway with each new account opened, thereby entitling them to multiple entries. No purchase or banking transaction is necessary to enter.
Prizes will be awarded on a staggered distribution schedule beginning April 10, 1996 (which marks 100 days to the Olympic Games) when one Buick Regal, one IBM Aptiva computer and 25 trips for two to the Olympic Games will be awarded. Prize distribution concludes on August 2, 1996 when NationsBank will award the Southern Living dream home.
