In a joint announcement today, Visa U.S.A. and Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) made public a sponsorship agreement between the two organizations that will benefit children throughout North America. The agreement makes Visa the newest national sponsor of Children’s Miracle Network, a non-profit organization that raises funds to benefit hospitalized children.
“Visa appreciates the opportunity to work with Children’s Miracle Network to make a significant and important contribution to the benefit of hospitalized children across the U.S.,” said Rob Robins, executive vice president, Market Development/Merchant Rel ations, Visa U.S.A. “We are delighted to be a part of an endeavor that does so much good, while it also touches on so many areas of our business at the same time.”

Visa will include Children’s Miracle Network in travel and entertainment, grocery and retail promotions designed to generate CMN donations during the coming year. Specific dates of the promotions will be determined in coming weeks.

The involvement of Visa with CMN also supports the rapid growth of Visa as a more efficient method of payment for patient co-payments and deductibles. Healthcare is one of the fastest growing sectors in Visa’s robust new market campaign program with more than $8.3 billion in transactions expected in 1996. Nearly all hospitals and more than half of physician offices now accept Visa for payment.

CMN raises funds through the business objectives of its sponsors. CMN also produces the largest national television fund raiser in North America, broadcast live from Walt Disney World the Weekend following the U.S. Memorial Day holiday. CMN’s hallmark is that 100 percent of locally-generated donations stay i n the community to benefit kids treated at the local CMN hospital.

The hospital associated with CMN treat 7 million children annually – kids suffering from all types of afflictions, including cancer, AIDS, heart and muscular diseases, birth defects, and trauma.
