Bank of America and Phoenix Suns introduced their new VISA card over the weekend. The ‘Phoenix Suns VISA Card’ offers one ‘Phoenix Suns Reward Point’ for each dollar charged, up to 25,000 points annually. Points are good towards Phoenix Suns merchandise and special events. For 5,000 points a cardholder can have their name in lights on the scoreboard during a Suns game. The no-fee card offers a prime +9.9% APR with a 3-month intro rate of 6.9%/13.99% long-term rate on transferred balances.
Jerry Colangelo, president and chief executive officer of the Phoenix Suns, Friday announced the introduction of the new Phoenix Suns Visa(R) Card, exclusively from Bank of America.
The new card will be officially unveiled during the Suns’ first preseason home game at America West Arena tonight.
The Phoenix Suns Visa(R) Card sports an action shot of the Suns’ popular mascot, The Gorilla, and was designed for the benefit of the fans. Not only does the card give them an ongoing opportunity to show their support for the Suns, it also comes with a built-in reward system.
Cardmembers earn one Phoenix Suns Reward Point for every dollar they charge on the card, up to a maximum of 25,000 points annually. The points can be redeemed for prizes, a variety of Phoenix Suns merchandise, and tickets to special Suns events such as Annual Suite Night or the Team Luncheon.
To illustrate just one of the selection of unique prizes, 5,000 points earns cardmembers a showing of their name in lights on the main scoreboard right above center court at America West Arena during a Suns game. What’s more, they’ll receive an 8″ by 10″ photo documenting the impressive event.
“We’re very proud of our continuing partnership with the Phoenix Suns. And we’re extremely excited about this latest addition to our exclusive line of Suns Banking products,” said Kathy Munro, executive manager for Bank of America’s Southwest Region. “Now Suns fans everywhere have one more way to show their allegiance to their team and, at the same time, enjoy the many rewards the new Suns Visa(R) Card has to offer.”
Applications for the card will be available in BofA branches throughout Arizona and at all Phoenix Suns home games. Fans who sign up for the card at Suns games will automatically receive their first prize, a Phoenix Suns 30th Anniversary mini-basketball. New cardmembers who transfer balances at the time of application will also receive a 30th Anniversary Suns T-shirt, in addition to a special introductory rate.
“As the Phoenix Suns celebrate the start of a new season, we want to thank our loyal fans for their 30 years of support,” said Colangelo. “The Bank of America Suns Visa(R) Card provides the perfect opportunity to demonstrate our appreciation to Suns fans across the state. I believe this card will become very popular as people learn about the terrific prizes they can win, simply for using their Visa(R) card.”
Standard pricing on the card, which carries no annual fee, is adjusted quarterly based on the prime rate as published in The Wall Street Journal, plus 9.99 percent (currently 18.49 percent). New cardmembers who transfer balances at the time of application can take advantage of a special 6.9 percent introductory rate on the balance transfers for the first three months, with a 13.99 percent rate applied for the life of the balance.
The new Phoenix Suns Visa(R) Card is one of many celebratory components the Phoenix Suns have planned for their upcoming 30th Anniversary Season.
