Blue Box Sweepstakes

Starting this Saturday all U.S. American Express cardholders will automatically be entered into a holiday sweepstakes offering nine grand prizes and 4,000 first prizes. ‘The American Express Blue Box Sweepstakes’ runs through Dec 31 and offers AmEx cardholders the chance to win several one-of-a-kind experiences including golf lessons from Tiger Woods’ father, a power lunch with CNBC anchors, a trip to a couture fashion show and tickets to all NBA finals. AmEx will also award other grand prizes including five million ‘Membership Rewards’ points and $50,000 in credit on an AmEx ‘Platinum Card’.

American Express will usher in the holiday season with the ultimate promotion, The American Express Blue Box Sweepstakes. Eligible U.S. Cardmembers will be entered automatically in the sweepstakes every time they make a purchase with their American Express Cards, from November 15th through December 31, 1997. There are nine Grand Prizes and 4,000 First Prizes in the Blue Box Sweepstakes.

Whether a sports fan, a travel enthusiast or a fashion follower, the Blue Box Sweepstakes has something for everyone.”

The nine Grand Prize winners will be taking part in some of the most extraordinary experiences developed by American Express for Cardmembers:

— Magical Walt Disney World(R) Vacation — An exclusive theme park experience for 12 including admission to all Walt Disney World Parks, 500 Disney Dollars and a choice of a special Disney activity.

— $50,000 of First Class Travel — $50,000 worth of first-class travel from Delta Air Lines, to any of over 300 cities in 34 countries, accommodations at over 400 Hilton hotels and resorts around the world and the help of a personal American Express travel consultant.

— Financial Power Lunch — Lunch in New York with Tyler Mathisen and Maria Bartiromo, CNBC Business Center anchors. The winner will also receive $20,000 to invest and will meet with an American Express Financial Advisor. Money Magazine will award a home computer and financial software package.

— A Designer Original — Winner flies to Paris, Milan or New York to attend the couture fashion show of their choice and receives $15,000 to purchase a creation by that designer.

— NBA Finals Package — Tickets for two to every game of the 1998 NBA finals, meet an NBA legend and attend post game interviews.

— Join Tiger Woods’ Gallery at a major golf tournament that you select. Enjoy a one hour golf lesson with Tiger’s special trainer, his father, Earl Woods, and receive an autographed golf bag and clubs. American Express will also donate $5,000 to the Tiger Woods Foundation.

— $50,000 on a Platinum Card(R) — Carry the Platinum Card with credits covering purchases of up to $10,000 per year for five years.

— Five Million Membership Rewards Points — A seemingly endless supply of Membership Rewards points will be credited to the Cardmember’s Membership Rewards account.

— American Express Will Donate $10,000 to the charity selected by the winner from the following list of charities: Save the Children, The Salvation Army, The Names Project, The National Urban League, Share Our Strength, Covenant House, American Red Cross, National Trust for Historic Preservation, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The winner will also be awarded $10,000 to use as they wish.

First-class travel and hotel accommodations will be provided by Delta Air Lines and Hilton Hotels.

Four thousand fun First Place prizes will be provided by Crabtree & Evelyn, Burberrys, Gevalia Kaffe, Godiva and 1-800-FLOWERS. A random drawing will be held in February, 1998 from all eligible entries to select the winners. Prize winners will be notified by mail.

The Blue Box Sweepstakes will be advertised in national and local publications as well as on radio. Cardmembers will receive detailed information about the sweepstakes in the mail during November and December.
