Acme Markets and U.S. Bancorp announced the launch of the Acme American Rewards Visa Card. The unique Visa will allow customers to earn valuable rewards, including free food at any of 178 Acme stores, free airline tickets from American Airlines, free ski lift tickets at Camelback Ski Resort in Tannersville, Pa., and other travel benefits, just for using their card at Acme stores or 14 million worldwide locations that accept Visa.

“Acme is proud to team with U.S. Bancorp on this exciting new American Rewards Visa Card,” said Edwin L. Spragg, Vice President Advertising and Special Marketing, Acme. “We continually strive to offer our customers exceptional values and we feel that this co-branded credit card offer is the best in our marketplace.”

The Acme American Rewards Visa works by crediting customers with two points for every dollar spent on the card at any Acme location, and one point for every dollar spent on the card at any other retailer that accepts Visa. Customers start earning rewards once 1,500 points have been acquired. At that level, customers can earn $100 off select vacation packages with Apple Vacations, American Vacations or Delta Vacations. Some of the other rewards customers can earn include certificates for $25 worth of free food at Acme for 2,500 points, or free American Airlines airline tickets at 25,000 points.

“This is a great credit card for Acme customers,” said Daniel Frate, President of Payment Systems for U.S. Bancorp, of the new card issued by his bank. “Not only are the interest rates very competitive with other co-branded credit cards, but this card provides the extra incentive of generous customer rewards and is integrated with Acme’s SuperCard loyalty program. It’s one of the most unique Visa cards in the country.”

Customer’s point totals will be indicated on monthly Visa statements. To redeem a reward, customers simply call the toll-free number listed on their statement and their reward request will be fulfilled. The appropriate number of points will be deducted from their statement at the same time.

In addition to the reward incentive plan, the Acme American Reward Visa automatically gives the same benefits as the Acme SuperCard, including lower prices on SuperCard items throughout the store, automatic Acme discounts without having to clip store coupons, and check cashing privileges and there’s no annual fee if the card is used three times in a twelve month period.

Applications for the Acme American Rewards Visa Card are available at any Acme location.
