The Huntington National Bank has been awarded a three-year contract to offer smart card services on the University of Central Florida campus. The UCF smart card will be offered through Cybermark, a company jointly-owned by OH-based Huntington, Battelle Memorial Institute and Sally Mae. Cybermark has worked with more than 100 colleges and universities to provide card development assistance, implementation support and systems integration. The University’s large student base will rank it among Cybermark’s top three schools in terms of card issuance. Included in the agreement between The Huntington and UCF, are a minimum of two ATMs and an Access banking office. The UCF smart card will operate as an ATM card, student ID, and will enable students to make purchases at area merchants, participate in the meal plan system, and to use vending machines, copiers and even the campus laundromat by storing cash value. UCF students will also be eligible to establish a university checking account, free of normal service charges and offering personalized UCF ‘Knights’ checks.

University of Central Florida students, faculty and staff will now have access to the latest financial technology, right on their own campus. In response to a request for proposal, The Huntington National Bank has been awarded a three-year contract to offer smart card services on the UCF campus.

Smart card technology is a fairly recent financial service innovation that serves many functions including:

* operating as an ATM card and student identification

* providing students with instant access to financial aid distributions and information

* enabling students to make purchases at area stores and restaurants

* enabling students to participate in the meal plan system

* allowing cardholders to use vending machines, copiers and even the campus laundromat by storing cash value.

UCF students will also be eligible to establish a university checking account, free of normal service charges and offering personalized UCF Knights checks.
