This holiday season Yahoo! Inc. offers the perfect way to avoid crowds, long lines and packed parking lots: Yahoo! Shopping. Features of the recently launched program include: enabling consumers to locate, compare and buy more than two million products in 14 popular categories, from over 2,700 online stores; add items to a single shopping cart; make purchases in one easy check-out; ship orders to multiple locations; and execute secure transactions at anytime from any Net-connected computer.
Among the 2,700 participating merchants are the well-known FAO Schwarz, Egghead.com, Inc., Tower Records, Dean & DeLuca, The Company Store, FTD, Inc., Service Merchandise, Big Dog Sportswear, Copelands Sports, Fredericks of Hollywood, Tweeds and The Vermont Teddy Bear Company.
The comparison shopping aspect of Yahoo! Shopping works this way: an individual looking for golf clubs, for instance, goes to the Sports & Fitness category, selects golf, and searches for the specific club they want to purchase. Yahoo! Shopping then returns a comparison chart, complete with relevant information such as product name, retailer, price and features. Finding the best deals and purchasing holiday gifts couldnt be easier.
Another feature of the program is the universal shopping cart, allowing users to add items from multiple stores into a single shopping cart, then paying for all items in one checkout. The universal shopping cart will also allow the shopper to compile and keep a list of products they want, then return later to make the purchase. When ready to purchase, the consumer simply clicks on View Cart in the menu bar to view the list of items they have previously selected.
To make things even easier, shoppers can designate the recipient of each item, and have the gift shipped directly from the comfort of their home computer.
