Imagine being rewarded for buying things you already need at your local supermarket or drug store? Thats exactly whats happening with the American Express Membership Rewards Program.
Starting right now, all of those enrolled in the Membership Rewards Program, or who have the Delta SkyMiles Credit Card, the American Express Golf Card, the Hilton Optima Card, the New York Knicks Card or the New York Rangers Card, will earn double points by using plastic for routine purchases. Supermarkets and drug stores nationwide are participating in the promotion, which runs from February 1 through April 30, 1999. Online stores that accept American Express, such as Peapod, Netgrocer and mybasics, will also participate.
The double points campaign will be publicized in a number of ways including in-store, radio and television advertising, billing statement messages and direct mail. Points earned may be redeemed for travel, merchandise, sports rewards and gourmet foods, and have no expiration date.
Hilton Optima cardmembers will earn triple points in this promotion since they already earn two HiltonHonors points per dollar spent. The Delta SkyMiles Credit card allows cardmembers to earn frequent flyer miles faster than ever for spending on the card. The American Express Golf Card allows cardmembers to earn points for spending which can be redeemed for equipment from Callaway Golf as well as golf clothes, vacations and lessons. The New York Knicks and New York Rangers Cards from American Express allow cardmembers to earn team-related rewards, such as team jackets and other merchandise. The Membership Rewards program allows cardmembers to earn points for spending on enrolled cards which can be redeemed for free or discounted airline tickets, hotel stays, car rentals, vacation packages and merchandise from over 30 retailers. The annual program fee is $25. Eligibility, conditions and terms may vary by card.
