MBNA, the largest independent credit card lender in the world, has announced that Save The Bay has signed an agreement to issue a credit card to its supporters.
Save The Bay, a non-profit organization established in 1970 in Rhode Island, works to protect and preserve Narragansett Bay. They work with community organizations, government representatives, school groups, the fishing industry, and others to educate the public about the many uses of the Bay, and its contribution to the regions economy, ecology and future. Over 20,000 individuals, businesses and community groups, primarily in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts, support the organization.
This new program is part of MBNAs Special Interest Sector of 400 membership and cause-related organizations, including more than 100 wildlife and environmental-related groups. Over 1.5 million customers have chosen an MBNA credit card from among these Special Interest organizations, which include the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, Ducks Unlimited, the National Wildlife Federation, The Nature Conservancy and the Wilderness Society.
