The most famous golfer in the world is getting ready to tee off a credit card this month. American Express is preparing to launch the new Tiger Woods Credit Card in Canada. This is the first time Woods has given his name directly to an American Express product even though he has been a spokesman for AmEx since 1997. Features and benefits include: one free companion round of golf each year at one of 17 select ClubLink courses; discounts on cart rentals and golf lessons at any ClubLink course; free golf lesson with a Golf Town CPGA certified teaching professional; discounts on golf apparel, equipment and other merchandise at Golf Town; complimentary enrollment in the new Membership Rewards at the Club Level; six complimentary issues of ScoreGolf Magazine; and access to concerts and sports events through American Express Front Of The Line. The annual membership fee for the Card is $99. For each new card and renewal fee in subsequent years, AmEx will make a $1 donation to the Tiger Woods Foundation to develop unique programs to benefit Canadian youth. The card carries a promotional interest rate of 5.99% on balance transfers for the first six months and an 18.50% APR for purchases and cash advances. American Express is converting five acres of Toronto’s Olympic Island into a stadium-for-a-day where more than 5,000 people will get the chance to see Tiger Woods tee-up on a specially created golf hole. The event, billed as “Tiger Takes Toronto,” will be held on May 27th. For more information: www.americanexpress.ca/tiger.
