A new survey shows that half of all Americans have made a New Year’s resolution regarding better management of their personal finances. The compares to 40% who resolve to lose weight, quitting a bad habit (37%), and advancing at work or in a career (31%). Despite this commitment to manage finances better, only 33% plan to create a written budget and stick to it, according to the VISA survey. The survey also found that 53% said they want to save for emergencies, and 56% vowed to monitor their overall spending more closely in 2003.
