As the nation gets cranked for this week’s Super Bowl XXXVII, VISA has named this season’s crop of extreme football fans. Among fans being recognized this year for the VISA Hall of Fans is Oakland Raiders fan Charles “Darth Raider” Ybarra and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan Tim Young. Ybarra, who dresses as Darth Vader, leads fellow Oakland Raiders fans in cheers, while striking fear into the hearts of opponents. Young has purchased Tampa Bay Bucs season tickets in four sections of the stadium, so he can watch the game from a different angle each quarter. Among other recognized fans this year is Jim “Torchman” Convey, who fires up Philadelphia Eagles fans sitting in the famed 700 level of Veterans Stadium by leading them in E-A-G-L-E-S cheer, while wearing a costume resembling that of a superhero. Since launching five years ago, the VISA Hall of Fans has become the sports premier fan recognition program, and the only one to honor them in a professional sports hall of fame. It is a permanent fan-only exhibit in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH. For more information visit www.profootballhof.com.
