Target Stores donated $200,000 to school libraries as a result of its “Library of Books” contest conducted for “Target VISA” cardholders. Twenty winning cardholders, selected at random, won a $200 Target gift card and selected a school of their choice to receive a $10,000 gift for its library. Target guests who made purchases with their “Target VISA” card were automatically entered in the contest. The Library of Books contest is part of Target’s national education initiative, which supports “Ready. Sit. Read!” and “Take Charge of Education,” two programs designed to embrace Target’s commitment to education. Since 1997, the “Take Charge of Education” initiative has contributed more than $80 million to further education in the USA through scholarships and the School Fundraising program. The School Fundraising program allows “Target VISA” cardholders to designate up to one percent of their card purchases to the K-12 school of their choice. Target will also donate one-half percent of “Target VISA” purchases made anywhere else “VISA” is accepted. For more information visit www.target.com.
