GoDaddy Gets His Stripe

GoDaddy Gets His StripeIf you are a tiny, and possibly an infinitesimal business, then there is Good News: GoDaddy is finally growing up and getting with the “new school” in payment card processing for its 12 million, mostly little obscure, business customers worldwide.

GoDaddy is hooking-up with the new payment phenom Stripe.

The GoDaddy Online Store with Stripe will be launched by year’s end and be available to customers in the UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada and the US.

With Stripe, GoDaddy small business customers can receive instant credit approval, and begin accepting credit card payments and accessing funds faster than ever before.

Stripe charges a fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per successful charge. This rate is higher than the rate charged by conventional credit card processors, but Stripe says the total cost to its customers may be lower, because Stripe has no setup fees, monthly fees, minimum charges, validation fees, card storage fees, or charges for failed payments.

Stripe has a 2-day waiting period in the U.S. for transactions to approve, so that Stripe can profile the businesses involved and detect fraud.

Stripe supports payments in 14 countries. In January 2014, Stripe announced an open beta for Australia, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Spain. Stripe is growing faster internationally than in the United States.
