U.S. Payment Card Purchases
CardData reports U.S. payment card purchase transactions for Visa and Mastercard (debit+credit) hit 25,141 million in 4Q/18, compared to a revised 24,442 million in 3Q/18, and a revised 22,944 million for 4Q/17.
RAM Research notes Visa and Mastercard purchase transactions (PTX) for credit and debit cards in the U.S. grew by 9.6% year-on-year (YOY) in the fourth quarter (4Q/18) compared to a 9.3% YOY gain in the third quarter. The growth was driven by Mastercard credit and debit cards.

U.S. PTX for credit cards was 16,327 million, compared to a revised 15,974 million for the prior quarter and a revised 14,883 million in the year ago quarter, according to CardFlash.
