A new, free financial education program has been released for college students which uses interactive discussions of specific financial situations and choices available to young consumers. The Consumer Federation of America and MasterCard International have teamed to offer the “Financial Survival” program to colleges and universities nationwide. In the coming year, CFA and MasterCard will be urging colleges and universities to integrate “Financial Survival” materials into their student programs, especially freshman orientation. Program materials include a PowerPoint and video presentation, student handouts, an educational Web site for students, and a facilitator’s guide to assist presenters. Educators can access these materials from www.financialsurvival.org.
