Entrepreneurial icon and author Farrah Gray now has a general purpose prepaid card for unbanked Americans. The new “goFarr MasterCard” can be reloaded multiple times at various locations and by different payment types, but carries a boatload of fees. For example: $2.00 for every successful ATM transaction and $1.00 for every ATM decline; $2.95 each time you add additional value to your card; $1.00 for each direct deposit; $0.49 for each point of sale purchase, each POS declined transaction and each call to the automated phone system; $0.95 for each online bill payment, $1.95 for a manual bill payment and $2.00 for a bill payment reversal; $2.95 for each card-to-card transfer or card-from-bank account transfer; a $4.95 monthly maintenance fee; $4.95 per month for e-mail or voice mail unlimited automatic balance change notifications; $9.95 to purchase a family card, secondary card or close the account; and $1.95 for each monthly statement sent. If you use an ATM not owned by the issuer, then you may also be charged a fee by the ATM operator including a balance inquiry even if you do not complete a withdrawal. If you want to talk to a live customer support agent, an additional $2.95 fee will occur for each call. To replace a lost or stolen card you will be charged a $14.95 fee for each occurrence. If your card is inactive for over 90 days an inactivity fee of $7.95 will be charged. Successful and unsuccessful International ATM transactions (Non-U.S. transactions) will incur a $4.95 fee and for POS transactions other than in the U.S. you will be charged $1.95 per transaction.
