Wells Fargo Bank and Hawaiian Airlines announced yesterday they are about to launch a co-branded MasterCard that will permit cardholders to pool their earned frequent flyer miles. The ‘HawaiianMiles MasterCard’ will be released this coming Monday, March 16, with take-one applications available at all Hawaiian Airlines ticket counters. The new program allows up to three individuals to pool their frequent flyer miles toward free travel awards. Cardholders will earn one air mile for each dollar charged. Hawaiian Airlines operates 12 daily widebody flights from the U.S. mainland and Hawaii.
Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. has teamed with Wells Fargo Bank to offer an innovative credit card program that enables users to pool their earned frequent flyer miles.
The new HawaiianMiles MasterCard, which becomes available on March 16, 1998, will be the first credit card program in the nation to allow up to three individuals to pool their frequent flyer miles toward free travel awards. In addition, cardholders will earn one mile per dollar on all transactions involving the new card.
Mileage pooling will reduce the time and transaction activity required of individuals to earn enough mileage to reach award levels for free travel and other benefits in the HawaiianMiles program.
“The HawaiianMiles Master Card will earn consumers free Hawaii travel faster than any other program out there,” said John Happ, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Hawaiian Airlines. “And if you have three people taking advantage of all the ways to earn HawaiianMiles on day-to-day transactions and pooling their miles, earning free travel on Hawaiian every year will be a snap.”
Kevin Goldstein, Senior Vice President of Wells Fargo Bank, said, “Hawaii is a favorite destination for our customers and we are pleased to offer a program that allows them to get there faster.”
Gary J. Flood, Senior Vice President, U.S. Member Relations for MasterCard International, said, “MasterCard International is happy to join Hawaiian Airlines and Wells Fargo Bank in another innovative travel-related program that truly benefits our mutual customers.”
Consumers may obtain applications for the HawaiianMiles MasterCard at any Hawaiian Airlines ticket counter or apply by phone, toll-free, starting March 13, 1998 at 1-800-729-6106.
