MasterCard is debuting two new commercials for this weekend’s “Super Bowl XL” to promote its debit and contactless cards. During the pre-game, MasterCard’s “Marathon Man” commercial will promote “PayPass” cards and during the fourth quarter of the game, MasterCard’s “MacGyver” commercial will promote benefits of “Debit MasterCard.” “Marathon” features Olympic Silver Medalist Meb Keflezighi making pit stops during a marathon he is running, using his MasterCard “PayPass” to make fast purchases. “MacGyver” features actor Richard Dean Anderson, who starred as the lead character in the popular 1980s series “MacGyver.” comScore Networks says nearly one in four people say watching the ads is their favorite part of the Super Bowl. The NFL announced it will put all the “Super Bowl XL” ads on its NFL Network, video-on-demand, NFL.com and NFL Mobile programs on Sprint. “Super Bowl XL” viewership is expected to range between 90 million and 130 million.
